Matthew is a well-known local artist, specialising in tied-wire sculpture and kinetic water features for international clients. His works – often based on organic and animal forms – have been exhibited in museums, galleries and public sites around the UK. He also teaches Applied Crafts to our Art & Design Foundation students at CSVPA.

His most recent work, The Corpus Clock. was unveiled by Professor Stephen Hawking and is located in the centre of Cambridge. It took seven years to develop, and its massive round face, nearly 4ft in diameter, was engineered from a single sheet of stainless steel, the mouldings literally blasted into place by precisely-controlled explosions under the sea. Seated on top of the clock is a giant grasshoper, or "chronophage" which symbolically 'eats' time as the minutes progress.
