This course is ideal for:

  • students who need to improve their English to study Art & Design in the UK
  • students who have not taken Art & Design as a major subject at high school (aged 16-18)
  • students who would like to develop their porfolio for Foundation study.

Students are thoroughly prepared for Foundation entry by studying the core subjects and by being introduced to all the discipline options available on the Foundation through a series of intensive workshops.

All students receive 18 hours of Art & Design teaching and five hours English language teaching per week.

What should I include in my portfolio?

Your portfolio is the chance to show us your skills and your passion and as a guide we would like to see the following:

  • taught and personal work
  • drawing skills (from direct observation and reference)
  • personal ideas and areas of interest (if fashion is your passion then show us)
  • experimentation with a range of different media and materials
  • a breadth of interest in and exploration of a range of art and design disciplines
  • research and ideas in sketch books or note books.

A good portfolio should tell the story of your work from ideas through development to the conclusion of a final piece.
